I'm new! Can I handle this?
First of all, welcome! The answer is YES! The wonderful thing about indoor cycling is that the difficulty of the class truly rests on your shoulders. The resistance knob located on your bike allows you to adjust the weight of your wheel. Feeling a little tired today? Well turn down that resistance! Or maybe you're feeling on top of the world, add it up! We strive to pedal to the beat of the music but if you need to, go at your own pace and listen to your body! We ride in a dimly lit room, so no need to be nervous that anyone is watching you. Trust us, they are all focused on themselves and reaching that beat! Head to our First Time Rider Page to read all about what you need to know when you come to STRIVE. Please consult your doctor in advance if you have a history of any medical concerns
Do I need bike shoes?
We recommend that if you plan to participate in Cycling both indoors and outdoors that you purchase cycling shoes to enhance your ride. Our bikes are not compatible with regular sneakers but will work with both Look Delta and SPD clips. For those that do not own their own shoes, we do offer complimentary shoe rentals at the studio. "Clipping In" will allow you to feel more connected to your bike and will allow for a more powerful stroke as you dig deep during class.
What if I have an injury?
You can always modify the movements we do during class in order to accommodate body injuries. Please let your instructor know of any current or previous injuries that may impact your ride. One of the great things about indoor cycling is that you are in charge of your bike and your resistance. Please always listen to your body and what it needs. There is no judgement here.
What should I wear to class?
Be prepared to SWEAT! We recommend wearing spandex or tight fitting pants/shorts as well short sleeves or a tank!
What should I bring to class?
Make sure you have the proper clothes to ride, a water bottle, and socks! But if you forget them we also sell them at the studio :-)
Do you have changing rooms and showers?
We have both! We also offer towels, soap, shampoo and conditioner so you don't need to bring them from home!
Do I need to sign up for class in advance?
We recommend that you sign up and reserve your bike if you plan on attending a class. We do offer walk-in riders but keep in mind that classes may fill up! You will need to create a STRIVE account and sign our liability waiver, this will save you time if you sign up in advance online. You can reserve your spot in class up to 7 days in advance!
Can I cancel my class reservation?
Yes. You can cancel your bike up to 8 hours prior to the start of class and it will be credited back to your account. Take a look at our Cancellation Policy to learn more.
When should I arrive to class?
If you are a new rider we recommend arriving 20 minutes before the start of class so that you can get all set up with your bike shoes and get aquainted with our bikes! All riders should arrive atleast FIVE MINUTES before the start of class. If the class is wait-listed we will begin giving away bikes at that time. If you arrive more than 5 minutes late to class you will not be allowed in as it disrupts the flow of class and other riders.
I'm pregnant, can I still ride?
If you're feeling up to it then yes! Make sure to be cleared by your doctor and let your instructor know! They will advise you on what the class will look like that day and what to avoid.
What is your refund policy?
We have a strict no refund policy. Please do not purchase rides unless you are sure you will use them. We do offer account credit.
What is your cancellation policy?
If you cannot make it to class that's ok, life happens! You can cancel a class online or by calling the studio without penalty up to 8 hours before the start of class. If you do not show up to class and have not cancelled within 8 hours of class you will be charged the full amount of the class or lose a class off of your class pack. If you are a monthly unlimited rider you will be charged a $10 no show fee.
Do you offer discounts or corporate packages?
Yes! We offer Student and Teacher discounts. Please e-mail a picture of your school ID using your school email address to Info@StriveIndoorcycling.com. We will work with you to purchase your package at a discounted rate!
Interested in a corporate package or event? Email us to learn more!
I'm confused, do you also offer Barre?
Great question! STRIVE does not but Pointe Barre Studios, our fitness partners at 10 Hills Ave. do! If you are interested in Barre head over to their website and check them out!
Where can I park?
There is parking on Main St, Storrs St, the Storrs St Parking Garage and the Market Basket parking lot! Please do not park directly across the street from the studio as that is a private lot.
